Hardware Architecture-Customized ultra mobile Projector
The optical part includes DLP, DMD, lighting devices (usually LED), optical elements (lenses, filters, etc.), and related mechanical components. These components are integrated into a small, compact, and durable assembly element, collectively referred to as an optical engine. The size and shape of the light engine depend on technical specifications such as resolution, brightness, projection ratio, and other design factors.
DLP Ecosystem-Customized ultra mobile Projector
According to customer needs, we can start building customized projection systems, from light engines to systems integration, for smart home portable unique needs.
Projection Surface
A surface may not be suitable for projection due to color, pattern, or surface curvature (e.g., kitchen, hearth, or wallpaper). This problem can be overcome by additional brightness and algorithms to compensate for surface geometry, color, and patterns.
Refit-Customized ultra mobile Projector
Equipment is often retrofitted to meet existing location and wiring conditions. In natural circumstances, the projected surface may not align with the projection lens. This problem can be solved by means of trapezoidal distortion correction and scaling. Pitching and rotating adjustments for projection modules can also help.
Size and Shape Design-Customized ultra mobile Projector
The required size and shape are other design considerations. The projection module needs to be integrated into existing home appliances while maintaining a pleasing appearance. The size of the light engine is mainly determined by its brightness, resolution and transmittance for smart home applications. The light engine can be small enough to be integrated into a smartphone or tablet, so it won’t affect the shape or design of any home appliance. At the other end of the spectrum, they can project vivid, beautiful images with a width of 100 inches.
Design considerations Customized ultra mobile Projector
The technical specifications of the projector will depend on the size of the image required, the type of surface to display, the size of the elements to be integrated into the terminal device, and the distance from the projected part to the display surface. The final technical specifications need to be balanced in the following key requirements:
Brightness-Customized ultra mobile Projector
The total output lumen of the projector will depend on the required image size and ambient light conditions. If the projection surface contains certain colors or patterns (such as kitchen range), you may need to increase the brightness by 20-30%. Table 1 gives the recommended luminance values of the projector under different image sizes and ambient light conditions.
Resolution-Customized ultra mobile Projector
The required resolution is determined mainly by the content or information to be displayed. If the content is a picture or video, the resolution is best up to 720p (1280 x 720) or 1080p (1920 * 1080). For text information and graphical symbols such as plain information, WVGA (854 x 480) or 720p resolution is sufficient.
Key Features | Benefits |
---|---|
High optical efficiency | DLP Pico digital micromirror devices (DMDs) incorporate highly reflective, polarization agnostic aluminum micromirrors, which enable bright, power-efficient projection systems that can reach over 20 projected lumens per watt of illumination power. |
Small size, high resolution | DLP Pico DMDs, with micromirrors as small as 5.4µm, create high resolution projected images from optical modules as small as 5.3mm in thickness and less than one square inch in area1 – small enough to fit in just about any mobile device. |
DLP IntelliBright™ Algorithms | Included in all DLP Pico TRP chipsets, DLP IntelliBright technology is a suite of image processing algorithms designed to help optimize image brightness, contrast, and power consumption. DLP IntelliBright algorithms can boost brightness by up to 50%2 without increasing power consumption. For more information, read the DLP IntelliBright application note. |
High contrast | By using the same core technology as DLP Cinema projectors, DLP Pico optical modules can achieve full on/off contrast ratios of over 1000:1, depending on system optical design. Higher contrast translates to more vivid colors and darker blacks. |
Mature ecosystem | A mature global ecosystem of established optical module manufacturers allows product developers to go to market faster by utilizing an existing, off-the-shelf optical module that is already in production. |
